FAQ

Is the Kheerganga Trek open in 2026?

Yes, the trek is open year-round. However, the best months are March to June and September to November. While winter trekking is possible, it is only recommended with professional guides from agencies like Wildhike due to heavy snow covering the trail markers

Can beginners do the Kheerganga trek without a guide?

The trail is well-marked, but we highly recommend a guide for first-timers, solo female travelers, or those trekking in the off-season. A guide ensures safety during sudden weather changes and handles all camping logistics, letting you enjoy the climb.

Are there separate hot springs for men and women?

Yes. There is a common pool area, but the bathing sections are strictly segregated for privacy and cultural respect. The water is naturally heated and contains sulfur, known for its medicinal properties.

Is there mobile network or Wi-Fi at the top?

Connectivity is extremely limited. You might get a faint BSNL or Jio signal at certain points near Nakthan village, but there is zero data/internet at the Kheerganga summit. Consider it a perfect digital detox!

What are the toilet facilities like during the trek?

On the trail, you will find “nature’s toilet.” At the campsites provided by Wildhike Adventures, we provide basic but clean dry-pit or western-style shared toilets, depending on the camp location.

Can I do the Kheerganga trek in a single day?

It is possible (approx. 10–12 hours round trip) if you start at 6:00 AM from Barshaini. However, we don’t recommend it. To truly experience the magic of the Parvati Valley, you should stay overnight and witness the sunrise.

How much cash should I carry?

There are no ATMs after Kasol. We recommend carrying at least ₹3,000–₹5,000 in cash for personal expenses, extra snacks, and local transport, as digital payments rarely work due to poor network.

Is the water from the springs safe to drink?

No, do not drink the water from the hot springs. However, there are several natural freshwater streams along the way that are safe. We recommend carrying a reusable bottle and asking your guide for the best refilling spots.
